From 3-point champion to All-star game MVP, It has always been known the true stardom of Kyrie Irving.

During the 2016 season where the LeBron James lead Cleveland Cavaliers came back from a 3-1 deficit to win the NBA Championship, Kyrie Irving showed his true superstar status being an excellent sidekick to LeBron where the two shared scoring duties. Irving’s clutch 3 in the final minutes secured the Cavs the series victory and was quite the coming out party for the 24-year-old star, finally living up to the hype he received as a rookie.

Which leads us to his deal with Nike. All these achievements by the age of 24, and Nike knew he would be a great investment for their company from his early years in the league.

Kyrie signed an $11 Million dollar deal with Nike early in his career. This deal included a signature shoe and apparel deal, which now has produced some of the most worn signature shoes throughout the modern NBA.

On December 23, 2014, Nike released the first signature Kyrie Irving shoe, the Kyrie 1.

With its flashy and light weight design, the Kyrie 1 became an instant hit around America and in the NBA. Worn by many of his opponents, Kyrie burst onto the scene with his signature shoe and becoming one of the premier shoes in the league. Since then, the popularity of the shoe has grown each design, and has become not only a historically great performance shoe, but an excellently designed piece of footwear.

From there, Kyrie had the Kyrie 2,3,4 and 5 come out.

Throughout Kyrie’s journey with Nike, he has a lot of creative freedom with the style and colorways that he has been able to put onto his shoes. With the Kyrie 5, he collaborated with his sitcom television show F.R.I.E.N.D.S to show a new colorway for the shoe.

Shortly after, he then brought out the SpongeBob themed line, where there was a shoe in the SpongeBob Yellow, Patrick Star Pink, Squidward Green, Mr. Krabs Red and Sandy White. All of these shoes gained great attention from the media and were worn by NBA players for months, ending up as one of Kyries most successful designs yet in Kyrie’s signature shoe line. These shoes originally sold for retail $130, but can now be found for double the price on sneaker trading site StockX for $350.

As much as we love to go and smash ourselves with a big running session, or by throwing around a few weights in the gym (we pretend to love it anyway!), it’s equally important to look after our body through managing our workload. After all, you can’t continue to train if you’re constantly sore, fatigued or worse of all…injured. That being said, the importance of recovery in attaining your fitness goals is highly critical. Recovery essentially refers to the period directly after a training session, in the lead up to the next. It incorporates all the actions which assist in returning your body to pre-exercise levels. The effects of recovery often go underrated; however, all professional sportsman cannot speak higher of the positive impacts that a proper recovery has on performance.
