Around Geelong, we live in such a beautiful and vibrant landscape, encapsulating all terrains and environments. From beaches to forests, hills to open plains, there is nothing more the adventurous could want that Geelong cannot deliver, that’s why us at SportsPower Geelong are providing you with our ‘Walk Around Geelong’ series, to encourage everyone of all ages and abilities, to keep fit and healthy amid a Covid world.
This week, we take a look at the Anakie Gorge.
If you’re in the Geelong area and looking for an adventurous walk, look no further than the Anakie Gorge, located in the Brisbane Ranges National Park. If you would like to get in touch with your ‘Aussie Spirit’, this walk will allow you to reconnect with iconic Australian wildlife, including wallabies and koalas (Parks Victoria).
This hike is recommended for intermediate and experienced hikers, as the 7.96k hike takes an estimated 2 hours, according to Walkingmaps.com.au.
Covering reservoirs, dry valleys and forests, the walk not only provides a great physical challenge, but allows you to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life and allows you to tune into the sounds of nature. Appropriate footwear is necessary to complete this hike; however, you can pick up a pair of trusty ‘Merrell’ boots here at SportsPower Geelong.
Give the gorge a go!
